Peano‐Hydraulically Amplified Self‐Healing Electrostatic Actuators Based on a Novel Bilayer Polymer Shell for Enhanced Strain, Load, and Rotary Motion

The hydraulically amplified self-healing electrostatic actuator is an emerging driving component for soft robotics, which composed of a flexible dielectric polymer shell that partially covered by conductive electrodes and filled with liquid dielectric. However, the low permittivity strength remain challenge limits performance. Herein, Peano-hydraulically constructed innovatively integrating bilayer combined favorable properties high strength, permittivity, elastic modulus. Compared traditional single-layer actuator, new architecture generates increased strain (164%) at 5 kV improves load-bearing capability (620 mN) 6 kV, thereby providing significantly enhanced actuation further applied in ratchet system, converts reciprocating motion into rotating output torque, order to protect components from impact. load characteristics configuration easy-to-deform design make it attractive approach fabricate complex geometries achieve variety modes systems.
